Today, we are going to discover an extraordinary diorama. This miniature world of model ships, model boats or model shipways was constructed by the Shipbuilding Club MBV Hofstade, Belgium. This diorama is called “Omaha Beach, Normandy, June 1944” and depicts the famous Omaha Beach after the military conquest by US troops in World War II. It takes about five meters in width and approximately three meters in depth including a real water basin.
There are floating pontoons connected by bridge elements with larger pontoons, which are used as jetties for the supply ships and warships. In front of the beach, there are landing ships and tank landing ships (LST) with open bow ramps. There are also Liberty ships, a class of cargo ships built in the United States during World War II. By the way, Pilentum does not want to change its focus from model railway construction to military vehicle modeling, miniature figure modeling or aircraft modeling. Pilentum was just fascinated by this little water world and would like to share this video with you.
